Prepare for a comfortable practice
Wash your hands, sit or stand with your neck comfortably tall and let your shoulders drop. Use a mirror if it helps you avoid pulling or scrunching. Facial movement should feel controlled and comfortable, never sharp or forceful.
Follow one simple five-minute order
Spend the first minute breathing and releasing the jaw, the second gently warming the cheeks, the third using light eye-area movements without tugging the skin, the fourth checking neck and head posture, and the final minute relaxing the whole face. Slow repetitions are easier to understand than racing through many exercises.
Use each minute to learn one skill
During the breathing minute, let the teeth separate and notice whether the tongue and jaw can rest. In the cheek minute, move slowly enough to keep the eyes and forehead relaxed. Around the eyes, use the lightest touch of the session and avoid dragging the skin. During the posture minute, bring the screen or mirror toward eye level instead of forcing the chin backward. The final release is a check: your face should feel at least as comfortable as it did at the start.
Keep pressure light
More pressure is not automatically more effective. Use clean fingertips, support the skin instead of dragging it and skip any area that is irritated, recently treated or painful. The goal of the first week is to learn what a comfortable routine feels like.
Adjust the routine to your skin and jaw
A movement can be reduced, slowed down or skipped. Avoid practising over broken, inflamed or sunburned skin, and follow professional aftercare after injections, surgery or dental treatment. If you have an active jaw problem, facial weakness or a condition affecting movement, ask the clinician who knows your history whether a general face yoga routine is appropriate.
Make consistency easier
Attach the routine to something that already happens, such as brushing your teeth or making morning tea. Pinko Face Yoga divides the day into short morning and evening moments so beginners always know which session comes next.
